MTD Gateway.
Making Tax Digital makes quarterly digital filing compulsory for UK sole traders and landlords. Kodie built the complete platform — currently going through HMRC’s approval process.
How the week used to go.
Records in spreadsheets and a shoebox of receipts
Figures re-keyed between bookkeeping and filing
Accountants juggling one login per client
Quarterly deadlines tracked by hand
How it goes now.
Digital records with receipts attached, imported from CSV or bank statements
Categorise once — the quarterly figures assemble themselves
Every client’s obligations and deadlines on one screen
Submissions go straight to HMRC from the record that produced them
From problem to platform.
The build, at a glance.
Public site
Marketing, pricing and articles, plus the statutory pages HMRC requires — terms, privacy, accessibility statement.
Signed-in web app
Dashboard, transaction records with receipt attachments, CSV and bank statement import, profit-and-loss by business, and quarterly submission screens — built on the GOV.UK Design System.
HMRC integration
Built against HMRC’s Making Tax Digital APIs: secure OAuth connection, business details sync, obligations, quarterly updates, in-year calculations, and HMRC’s mandatory fraud-prevention headers.
Agent mode
An accountant signs in with their Agent Services Account, adds clients, requests HMRC authorisation, and files for each of them from one place.
Multi-tenant by construction
Every business-scoped route is membership-checked — with tests that prove the refusal.
